The Bedrooms at Steep Acres

(Retreat Members' Sleeping Quarters)

Once you accept that the term 'bedrooms' is a more aspirational than descriptive, you will be quickly charmed by the creaky, rustic, open layout of this vintage summer cottage.  It is true that some of the bedrooms have actual doors separating them from the rest of the upstairs, but I would encourage you to view the entire house as a sort of dormitory with a rabbit warren physique.

For instance, this cozy bedroom just to the right of the stairs offers its own closing door. But as a bonus, it also offers a roomy sleeping porch jutting from its side like a codependent friend.

This is the sleeping porch. It sleeps two and comes with its own dry sink! (water not included.)

The "master" bedroom. If you absolutely positively must demand privacy, then request this room early. It has a door and no peculiar hanger-on rooms leading off from it.

The charming "maids' quarters", this room has nothing to get in the way of early morning risers, such as a door.

It does however include this cute and well-lit annex, which is large enough to sleep at least one more person. Or two if one opts to repose in the trunk.

There are an assortment of sleeping couches and day beds in the open downstairs living room, which expands the fun dormitory feel of the place. There is also a wonderful screened in wrap-around porch just off the downstairs, providing a great place to hold into-the-night deep discussions, the sort that an overindulgence of wine often provokes.
